Final Concept Sketch Design of CubeHerb Garden

Preparing Presentation Slide + Design

We had another group discussion, at Barbican Centre, as our final meeting together to design, organise and rehearse our slides presentation for Tuesday. We also aimed to compile and discuss our written text on the same day.

We can think how QR-code (Quick-Response code) connected with information can be applied in our garden. Nowadays, smart phone is equipped with the function of scanning QR code so as to get further information.  

Kitchen Herb Usage Chart



In kitchen, how do we use herb as ingredients with our meal? What kinds of PERFECT combination with herb and soup/vegetable/pork/beef/others? The answer can be found in Testful Garden website. Therefore, we also can organze herbs we can put into our blueprint of Cubeherb.

In addition, in order to illustrate our mutiplecultures brought by international students at Goldsmiths, we can design a event which encourages students to propose their family herbs in our garden. In this event, the information related to food cultures based on herbs can be exchanged.

Bottle herb garden



We believe that herb is easy to grow in our everyday life. It would be wonderful that we can ues recycled material as containers or structures for herb. This project shows as that kind of idea. Plastic soda bottles are cutten  and linked vertically together to grow herb individually. The projet inspires us something. 

1. we can design vertical growing bed for herb on the wall. It  can makes good use of the space. Individual growing bed is a good way to avoid some herb, such as mint, from over growing to invade the rest space in which belong to some herbs.

2. Using recycle materials is a good practice. We have to learn and teach people how to deal with these items to improve our life quality. 
 

The herb project


How food growing happen at campus? I try to find out some projects running in reality. The Herb Project is a joint project of the Holistic Teaching Garden and The Texas A&M University Dining. They choose to grow edible herbs and use them in the meal served for students and staff. 

With season changes, gardener can arrange various kinds of perennial herbs and  warm-season herbs to be planted in garden to meet the demand of cantine and cafe. 

The project inspires us to think about some issues in our garden. 
1. Gardener is essential for Cubeherb. He/She can assist us to maintain the garden and deliver professional knowledge regarding garden. 

2.Edible herbs are important for our garden. We should collect more herb information. Let people can understand  herbs via our garden.
